Auditions will be a six week process where you will meet once a week on Tuesday nights for two hours each week. The Tuesdays are February 16, 23 and March 2, 9, 16, 23.

We have great ideas for 2010 and need some enthusiastic and hard working dancers!

We gave the very talented team division (8 teams total) a run for their money and won third and fourth place with our “Love Me Or Leave Me” and “All The Cats Join In/Traffic Jam” routines. Both routines are available on Youtube and are linked on our Videos page.

Camp Hollywood 2009

The One2Swing Jitterbugs win first and second place at the National Jitterbug Championships/Camp Hollywood. Videos of our routine are availbale on our Videos page.
Camp Hollywood was a total blast this year.  We love Camp Hollywood so to all of you who made it, congrats!  To those who missed, hope to see you next year.

Congratulations to all our team members because they truly worked hard and definitely left everything out on the floor Saturday night at the team competition.

For the rest of the competitions, usually I congratulate all the So.Cal folks who did well in competitions but this year there were SO MANY OF YOU! Not to mention there were very inspiring performances by non-So.Cal people as well.  Too many people to congratulate!

But I’ll give it a shot.

By the way, there may be a few mistakes … so I apologize for that … I think i at least got the names right but the placements might be switched on a few .  And by the way, if you did well and I didn’t list you, or you know of someone i missed, please let me know and I’ll add them in next week’s email!

Great job LA/OC !!!

Building a good web site is always a challenge. To date, this is about the 8th swing dance web site that I’ve put together. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best sites share one fundamental characteristic: they don’t make you think. They’re easy to navigate, easy to update, work across different browsers, and doesn’t look like it was ripped off from a template.

Actually, it’s a lot like coming up with good choreography: familiar but unique. And that is the challenge.

So as I was researching on the latest and greatest CSS techniques and frameworks, I came across hybrid. Hybrid combines best practice bulletproof css from Blueprint, Tripoli, and 960 along with a powerful widgetized blogging/CMS platform, Wordpress. If you don’t know what that means, it’s like being able to take moves from the California Routine or the Big Apple and put it in your choreography. You get something familiar that works, so that you can spend time on the unique stuff.

 I’ve tried to keep the page layouts pretty simple, not super-sexy, but definitely usable. I wanted to make the site easy to update, so I installed the backend on Wordpress using a custom child theme based on This was my first time creating a custom Wordpress theme, but hybrid makes things pretty easy once I got over the learning curve.

Anyway, the site is still in beta. So some things may not work 100%. We’ll make changes as we go along. Kinda like how Ben choreographs (MUAHAHAHA …).
